Our May 2009 Branch Meeting took place on Tuesday 19th May 2009.

Many items were discussed including.....

  • AAD Nominations and attendees at future AAD's from our AAD District which comprises of Basingstoke, Feltham Electric and Woking Branches.
  • An excursion to the 2009 Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival and Rally on Sunday 19th August 2009. This has been jointly arranged by us and Waterloo/Nine Elms Branch and details of the trip and the event, its historic significance  and link to the Trade Union Movement are attached below and also posted in the Messroom.
  • LDC Report and Items mentioned were mainly regarding the recent roster change (see LDC page for more information and for copies of the current Roster/Links), the forthcoming Messroom rebuild, arrival of the Temporary Accomodation in relation to this and meeting this week regarding all things Messroom, Building work, saga, fiasco, etc....! And forthcoming Agenda Meeting and Annual Leave 2010 rotation/roster all scheduled for June.
  • Health & Safety Report/Items mentioned the Rebuild/Accomodation as mentioned above and correspondence shortly to be sent to ASLEF Members at Woking regarding Repetative Strain Injuries (RSI) as a result of Power Brake Controllers on Desiro and 458 EMU's. More details on the Health & Safety page.
  • Rail Union Learning (RUL), some information was provided from the highly sucessful RUL 'Learn at Work' Open Day that took place on Thursday 14th May 2009 at Woking. Thank you to all who participated and the Branch would to place on record its appreciation for its RUL Representative Martin Scott who organised this event and for his sterling work so far in this position.
  • Other items raised by Members at the meeting - Sectional Appendix and updates, Rolling Stock having out of date Light shapes/glow sticks in their Emergency Equipment Cupboards and the need for members, the Branch and Local Reps to keep on top of things where individuals find themselves in disadvantage after operational incidents. 
Our Next Branch Meeting takes place Tuesday 16th June 2009 in Woking Railway Club (BRSA) and is a 17:00 start.
